You have to bring a claim within certain time limits. If you have a claim which is based on breach of contract or negligence you must bring your claim within six years of the date of the breach of contract or the date of the negligent act.
For personal injury claims the time limit is three years. The three years runs from the date of your injury or death or the date you first learnt about your injury or your dependents first learnt of your death.
Claims for children under 18 have a different time limit. The time limit is three years from when the child reaches 18. Click here for more on accident claims.
